BDS Works

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions - BDS

The genocide in Gaza has left lots of people feeling helpless, frustrated and angry at the sense of powerlessness they are experiencing. Many have stopped watching news bulletins because they are so horrific. That is perfectly understandable but

Never Give Up

Palestinians need us!

An individual ant is a tiny creature that on its own has little power and can easily be crushed. An army of ants - undefeatable! BDS creates that army of ants.

BDS brought down the South African apartheid regime which was supported by the same countries  involved in the Palestinian Genocide - UK, USA and Israel.

Ireland was the first country that implemented a boycott and coined the phrase and action  - to BOYCOTT. It derives from Captain Charles Boycott, the land agent of an absentee landlord, Lord Erne, who lived in County Mayo, Ireland. Captain Boycott was the target of social ostracism organized by the Irish Land League in 1880. Boycott soon found himself isolated – his workers stopped work in the fields and stables, as well as in his house. Local businessmen stopped trading with him, and the local postman refused to deliver mail.

We need to implement the Boycott and its extension to Divestment and Sanctions to Israel, to stop funding the genocide.

You Can Make a Difference!!!

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese reports on the Genocide

Despite huge pressure from the US and others the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied  Palestinian Territories (OPT) has produced and presented a report that outlines the responsibilities of Countries, Companies organizations and individuals in response to the Palestinian Genocide.

She has also named the companies that are enabling or profiting from the genocide in  her report.

BDS Targets

Some well known companies and brands have been and continue to be complicit in the Palestinian Genocide. People pressure is required to get them to change their involvement. You can help as an individual by boycotting their products and services.

Coca Cola

Coca coal has supported the Israeli regime and is a high profile brand.

Still like a Cola drink? There are some great Palestinian supporting alternatives. Buy local owned brands such as

Palestinian Cola

McDonalds

McDonalds still supports the Zionist regime giving free food to their Army.

Still like a Burger. Why not visit take the kids for a treat to your local cafe or restaurant and support your locally owned businesses.

Starbucks

Starbucks still support the Israeli regime.

Still like a nice latte or cappuccino? Why not try one of your local cafes or some of the excellent pop up coffee spots.

Allianz

They have invested heavily in companies manufacturing weapons for Israel and insure many Israeli organizations.

Currently Allianz sponsor the GAA and other big organizations and churches. This needs to stop.

Contact your local GAA club and church to get them to find local alternatives.

Amazon

They have huge profits from the genocide.

Still like to do online shopping? Why not try some alternatives. Ebay for example and you may also find more choice and better value.

Booking.com

They still advertise properties in Occupied Palestine that have been built on stolen Palestinian land.

You can still use their website or other booking website to find your ideal holiday then search for the hotel or property website. You will normally find it cheaper (no Booking.com fees, as much as 10 - 20%)

BDS Successes

Unite the Union

Unite the Union, Britain’s second biggest union, reaffirm its strong support for the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign for freedom and justice.

The Union calls on the UK government to abandon its anti-boycott bill that seeks to limit the ability of public bodies to make ethical choices about spending and investment that reflect widespread public support for human rights, climate goals and international law.

Trinity College Dublin

After a sustained campaign by TCD students the University eventually divested from all connections with all Israeli Universities.

TCD BDS Chair Harry Johnston

“This victory shows us that people-powered movements achieve real results and change. Trinity has reversed a wrong, now we will ensure Trinity takes action in creating a positive impact beyond its legal obligations.”

British Medical Assoc.

They  noted the June 2025 statements by the World Medical Association (WMA) and Israeli Medical Association (IMA) condemning what they described as a deliberate missile strike on Soroka Medical Center in Israel. Yet the WMA has issued no comparable statement on the destruction of Gaza’s health system, and the IMA has remained silent on the deaths, detention, and targeting of Palestinian healthcare workers and facilities — all widely documented by UN and humanitarian bodies. Selective condemnation undermines medical neutrality.
