Gaza is the most dangerous place on earth to have a baby and the first Mobile Maternity Unit will provide vital support to many expectant mothers. The unit was completed in Egypt ready for handover to the people of Gaza. The fundraising was very successful and it proposed to raise funds for a second unit.

The funds were raised by a number of Palestinian solidarity groups.  The 'Gaels against Genocide' Palestinian solidarity group in Tyrone and Belfast held a range of fundraising activities taking place over many weeks. They were supported by 'Christians4Palestine.org'. John Hurson, from the Tyrone Gaels, is seen at the commissioning of the first unit.

A large number of Belfast Church congregations, supported by their local priests, including St Agnes, St Johns, St Michaels, St Oliver Plunkett , St Paul's and Clonard Monastery gave very generously to the appeal.
